Pendulum/Pendex
The pendulum appliance is used to correct Class II malocclusions by distalization of upper molars. The design utilizes state of the art TMA wires to move the upper first molar back. This creates space for the front teeth to move backwards and address the overjet typically seen in patients requiring Pendex therapy. A palatal expander is built into the appliance hence the name Pendex.
Pendex therapy is best accomplished in a younger patient before the second molar begins to erupt. For this reason it is often used during Phase I therapy.
